Pregnancy Test FAQ’s
-
We use urine analysis pregnancy tests only. During a pregnancy, a woman’s body produces a hormone called hCG, found in urine and blood. At PWC, you will provide a urine sample (onsite only), and we will test it for the presence of hCG.
-
Our tests can detect the hCG pregnancy hormone as early as one day after a missed period and positive results are 99% accurate. If you are interested in receiving an ultrasound we recommend you wait until after you miss your first monthly period.
-
For most accurate results, it is recommended you wait until after you miss your monthly period to avoid false negative tests. Ultrasounds are available for pregnancies between 8 and 14 weeks.
-
False negative test results are possible, depending on how much of the hCG pregnancy hormone your body has produced and how diluted your urine is. If you have a negative test result, but your period does not arrive, PWC recommends you return for a retest one week following your initial test.
